Letter from AZCEC President

Wishing all special educators in our state a Happy New Year!
Each New Year brings fresh energy and a renewed spirit. New Year is the best time to reenergize and inspire ourselves with our common purpose. As we renew our dedication and hope, we pause to share our gratitude on the success we have achieved.
The 2020 Annual State Conference in February saw record breaking attendance of over 500 participants! When the schools closed your Arizona CEC and its Divisions rallied to support educators. Webinars were delivered to the field providing information on online teaching strategies and tools, legal updates and considerations, forums for special education teachers, panels for colleagues around the State to share their implementation strategies, online curriculum, forms, and encouragement.
The virtual July 2020 Special Education Legislative Summit saw over 80 professionals responding to the call to interact with members of the Arizona Congressional Delegation! Teams were organized for every AZ Legislative District to reach out and connect with our Representatives and Senators.
We continued and will continue to deliver our seasonal conferences in a virtual environment reaching all corners of the State until we can come together again.
I want to thank everyone for all their efforts throughout the year. The success of our advocacy as an organization is built on the collective passion and work of you, our members. As educators and advocates we’ve come through a year that was filled with both challenges and solutions. The compassion you show to the children and families we serve is an inspiration for us all. How reassuring it has been to know that we can count on you regardless of what faces us.
The AZCEC offers our best wishes and happiness to you, your families, and students as we all look forward to a healthier and happier 2021.
Take care, stay safe, be well.
